Refine is available to you either for installation on your own servers, or if you prefer as a hosted system available over the web.

Online or offline: You choose.
 
Because Refine runs entirely within a web browser, you can choose if you wish to have it running on your own systems or access it via the web. There are advantages and disadvantages to each approach and we have set some of these out below.
 
The choice of online or on-premise is available regardless of which Edition of Refine you opt for.
 
 
On-Premise
 
Advantages
 
  • You have complete control over your environment
  • You have complete control over your data
  • You may not have to consider internet connection speeds as part of your Refine infrastructure
  • You own the system
 
Disadvantages
 
  • You will need to provide and manage a suitable infrastructure
  • You will be responsible for back-ups
  • You will be responsible for applying updates
  • You will need to provide remote access facilities to depots or remote users
 
 
Online
 
Advantages
 
  • You have no installation to perform
  • We will manage updates and maintenance
  • Remote users have easy access to Refine
  • You do not need any additional licences

 

Disadvantages
 
  • Your data will be secure, however it will be on a shared server
  • You will not own the system
  • You cannot customise the system to the same degree
  • Performance for all users is related to internet connection speeds
